A Spoonful of Vintage – Do you have your tickets?

A Vintage Wedding ShowcaseHave you heard of A Spoonful of Vintage?    CBA members Sarah Mayerson Design and Tara Whittaker Photography are part of this innovative Vintage Collective that are hosting Calgary’s first ever Vintage Wedding Showcase, in cooperation with Calgary Bride. The event will feature decor inspired by classic films (The Wizard of Oz & Breakfast at Tiffany’s to name a few), a front row fashion show, a fab photo booth, sweet treats, swing dance demos, amazing giveaways and a gift bag full of treasures for each bride.  Vintage fashion and style have become a huge influence in the wedding industry and the popularity of shows like The Great Gatsby and Downton Abbey have inspired brides to add a ‘spoonful of vintage’ to their modern weddings.  Be sure to pass this along to your clients.  Whether your Brides like a ‘hint of nostalgia’ or a big dose of vintage, there will be something at Vintage Wedding Showcase for everyone.

Calgary Wedding Photographer Paparrazi Photography features Amy and Mike

A couple of months back we featured a fun “Braveheart E-session” by Calgary Wedding Photographer Paparrazi Photography. Now we are pleased to feature Amy and Mike’s wedding that took place on August 25th!

About Paparrazi Photography:

Taking pictures is Karen’s passion and she has been shooting since she received her first camera at 14! Whether it is family portraits, favorite pets, or a bride and groom in happy bliss, she captures the true personalities of her clients and her passion shines through in the unique Photo Art created.

About Amy and Mike:

They met at a couples birthday party where Mike was good friends with the guy (one of his groomsmen) and Amy was close friends with his fiancée Shannon, who ended up being her bridesmaid. The night they met there was a lot of flirting! After a lot of birthday celebrations and later in the evening, the men headed out to play some late night hockey. Once the party started to clear, Amy was getting ready to leave and as she was at the door putting her shoes on and saying good bye to everyone, the door opened up and all of the boys from hockey came back. Amy was so excited that Mike returned, she took off her shoes and stayed and flirted some more! The flirting worked as although Mike didn’t ask for her number right away, Amy received a message on the Monday at work from her girlfriend saying he wanted it! They had an intense week of texting and a week later had their first date. Amy and Mike have been inseparable ever since.

E-session with Calgary Wedding Photographer Paparazzi Photography “Braveheart”

Calgary Wedding Photographer, Karen from Paparazzi Photography, was so excited to share this e-session of her clients, Amy and Mike. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did at Calgary Bride. Have a wonderful weekend!
“After Mike and Amy hired me to shoot their wedding this year.. I was racking my brain trying to think of something unique for their e-session. Amy is Scottish… so I researched on some really cool ideas. Thinking of all the interesting possibilities of what we could do… It hit me like brick wall. Braveheart! of course! William Wallace was Scottish.. But would they be up for my unique over the top session? Yes Yes Yes! I was so ecstatic that they were game.. Sweet! I also found out later that Amy’s Mother loves the movie Braveheart… coincidence? :)
Took a while to get everything together, from having the costumes created to all the little odds and ends and booking the location…. I was calling everyone asking if they had props. Even having a true executioners Claymore Sword was a bonus! I am sure I drove my significant other bizerk with my random obsessive chatting about the upcoming Braveheart shoot. hehehe. I had a super time shooting this theme for an e-session … Both Amy and Mike rocked the shoot like pros making my imagination and creative abilities come true on digital imprints. I hope you all enjoy my photo version of the story as much as the we had fun shooting the session. ”

Calgary Wedding Photographer Anne Wright

About 8 years ago, Jenn was working at a local fitness club in Regina where Ian was a club member. A good friend and co-worker of Jenn’s listened to Jenn talk about Ian for a few weeks before mentioning she was actually a family friend of his. Shortly after, her co-worker had set Ian and Jenn up on a date and last year they tied the knot. It definitely was not as simple courtship as Ian and Jenn spent almost 3 years in a long distance relationship while she was living in Toronto going to school and he was in Calgary beginning his career.  With many flights back and forth and months of not seeing one another, they pulled through and in March of 2007 when school was complete Jenn moved to Calgary to be with Ian. She moved right in with Ian and it was “one of the best decisions we ever made as living together has been a ton of fun, exciting and most importantly an easy transition.” They became engaged in February of 2010 when they went to Chicago on their annual Reading Week break from school where he proposed at The Everest restaurant at the top of the Stock Exchange Tower. It was a complete surprise and Jenn says, ” I am sure I screeched louder than ever before as it was by far one of the best surprises!!”

“Planning our wedding was a blast! I got a jump start about a month after we got engaged and with the help of family and friends, the day could not have been any better. We had 75 guests, which was the perfect amount. The family and friends that you truly cherish and couldn’t imagine spending these life moments without. Approximately 50 of the 75 guests stayed at the Kensington Riverside Inn (we took over the whole place and the Inn was shut down for the public use the whole weekend). The service and staff at the Inn was outstanding, the food out of this world and there was never a moment of worry or stress. We both have never felt so loved by all of our family and friends as they joined us from all over Canada for this special day. I wish I could do it all over again, the excitement and overwhelming happiness we shared together that day was truly amazing. I remember walking down the aisle (stairs) at the Inn and the entire room went silent in awe and the next thing I saw was Ian standing at the end of the aisle with tears rolling down his cheek. That moment will stay with me forever.”
